Founded in 1990, FOI Oklahoma is a statewide organization that actively supports those organizations and individuals who work to open records or provide access to meetings illegally closed.

Murphey stated that serving on the FOI Oklahoma board has been an eye-opening experience. “It has been amazing to observe the number of concerned citizens all across the state who contact the group seeking to remedy potential violations of transparency laws,” he said.

Murphey’s term on the board started in 2012 and will run through 2014.
