With no Democrat or Independent opponent in the race for the District 31 State Representative, Jason Murphey is now preparing for his fourth term after a convincing win in the primary election.

Murphey (R-Guthrie) collected nearly 83 percent of the vote over challenger Andrew Muchmore.

Officially, Murphey finished with 3,621 total votes or 82.9 percent compared to Muchmore’s 747 votes for 17.1 percent. The results will be certified by the state on Friday.

Murphey, the House vice chairman of the Conference Committee on General Government, was first elected to the House in 2006.
