New Chapter FFA officer team to lead for 2017-18

Six Members of the Guthrie FFA Chapter will lead the more than 220 members for 2016-17 school year.

Candidates submitted an application, completed an interview, and finally received votes by the chapter membership to earn their new titles as Chapter Officers. Officers were announced during the 80th Annual Guthrie FFA Chapter Banquet on May 9.

To be Junior FFA member, Emily Cordell, will lead the team this year as Chapter FFA President. “I can’t wait to give one more year of service to the organization that literally has given me everything,” said Cordell. “I’m looking forward to being able to serve FFA members again.”

Cordell said she credits the FFA allowing her to do things she never thought possible and for her passion for agriculture.

Five additional FFA members will join Cordell on the 2017-2018 Guthrie FFA officer team: Garret Wellden, vice president; Ellie Throckmorton, secretary; Morgan Truitt, treasurer; Jacob Sanderson, reporter; Tyler Laverty, sentinel.

Guthrie FFA is an integral part of the Guthrie Public Schools in Oklahoma’s CareerTech system.  With more than 220 members, the Guthrie FFA Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the Oklahoma FFA Association.
