New EMS district now accepting applications for board members

The Board of Logan County Commissioners is accepting applications for the North & East Logan County EMS Board.

The board will be comprised of seven board members, a resident from each school district within the boundaries of the EMS District and one at-large member appointed by the Board of Logan County Commissioners.  In the event a representative from a school district is unable to be secured that position will be filled as an at-large member appointed by the Board of Logan County Commissioners.

Applicants must live in one of the following school districts: Covington-Douglas, Mulhall-Orlando, Coyle, Perkins-Tryon, Luther and Wellston school districts within the EMS area of Logan County.

In early December, the district was formed after voters in the Luther, Wellston, Perkins-Tryon, Coyle, Mulhall-Orlando and Covington-Douglas school districts (within in Logan County) approved the measure in the November 6 General Election.

The ballot question easily passed with 1,082 yes votes compared to 301 votes (78.24 percent to 21.76 percent).

The responsibility of the new EMS board will be to either provide ambulance services to the stated areas or contact with a provider.
