The Guthrie Cross Country boys team took on a talented field in the OK Runner Norman Classic. The event drew over 20 teams, in multiple classes, for the 5k run.
The Jays finished with two medalists and just missed out on a third. Overall, the team finished fifth with 117 points. Bishop McGuinness won the team event with a team score of 68 points followed by Norman (102), Westmoore (110), Norman North (110).
Jonathan Ogan and Zack Cates, who have medaled in all of the races to this point, came away with medals with sixth and seventh place, respectively. Hunter Sallee just missed out of the medal count with a 19th place finish as did Walker Cross at 22nd.
Adam Beery finished 63rd, but head coach Clay Tarter said it was just the second race for Beery in a 5k. Also, competing for the Jays were Alex Dorio and Leroy Unruh.
The junior varsity teams will next compete in the Putnam City North Invitational on Tuesday. The varsity boys will return back to the soil Saturday in the Kingfisher Invitational.
