Obituary: David Donald Wegner

David Donald Wegner, was born Nov 25, 1937, and in honor of Thanksgiving, he was temporarily nicknamed, Our Little Butterball. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend. He went home to be with Jesus on Aug 12, 2019, from Guthrie, Oklahoma.

David attended Coyle High School and graduated in 1956. He was a member of the 4-H Club and the C club. David loved sports, and he was the student manager of the Coyle HS Basketball team and the Baseball Team for three years.

David was a United States Marine, stationed at Camp Pendleton, H Company, 2 bn, 2nd Inf.  

He worked here in Guthrie at Morgan’s Auto World for many years. He will be remembered fondly as the elderly man who waved to his friends in the car line of Fogarty Elementary School. 

He has been for many years a beloved member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Guthrie, Oklahoma. And will be dearly missed. 

David is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Carl Wegner, and two nephews, Gary Wegner and John Starks, and his sister Alice Wegner.  

He is survived by his sisters, Lois Koppelmann, of Washington State, Ruth Boyer, of Oklahoma, Mary Jane Judkins, of California, and his brother, Paul Wegner of Kansas; And his beloved children, Sherry Helscel, David Reynolds, Jennifer Rich, Sally Wegner, and many grandkids and great grandkids.  

Memorial Service at Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Guthrie, OK, Friday, Aug 16, 2019, at 1:00 pm.
