Earlier this month, eight wrestlers from Guthrie attended their first Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling tournament this season at Putnam City North High School. Attending with the wrestlers were coaches Jay Howard and Brian Orndorff.
The tournament resulted in a few placers as follows:
Allyn Orndorff, Greco Champion
John Allen, Freestyle runner-up
Allyn Orndorff, Freestyle 3rd Place
Spade Pool, Freestyle 3rd Place
Rocky Wilson, Freestyle 3rd Place
John Allyn, Greco 4th Place
Andrew Allen, Freestyle 4th Place
Klyndon Brinsfield, Greco 4th Place
For the next three weekends the schedule will be filled with important tournaments as these wrestlers and more attend the National Team Qualifier followed by regionals and the State Championships.
Throughout the Summer, Guthrie wrestlers will be able to attend several National Tournaments around the country. The first of those will be the first weekend in June, where Allyn Orndorff and Rocky Wilson will be attending the UWW Cadet World Team Trials in Akron, Ohio along with any other Guthrie Cadets (born 2001, 2002, 2003) who wish to attend. The remainder of the Guthrie wrestlers who choose to do so will attend the USAW Southern Plains Regional Championships in Dodge City, Kansas.
