Photos: Suspected DUI driver crushes downtown mailboxes

Updated Sept. 7, 2022 — Postal workers were out front Wednesday adding new mailboxes in front of the post office.

Updated Sept. 7, 2022 — 23-year-old Alyssa Chrystine Hedge, of Guthrie, was charged on multiple counts this week in Logan County.

Hedge was charged with driving under the influence and possession of CDS (Xanax) on Tuesday.

She was given a $2,500 bond and a court date of Nov. 10.

Dropping off mail at the Guthrie Post Office will not be as convenient in the coming days after a driver plowed through the downtown mailboxes late Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m. a driver of a white minivan drove over the two blue metal mailboxes that sat on top of a concrete platform.

The female driver, who was driving eastbound, was taken into custody for suspected driving under the influence. The suspect’s name has not been released by law enforcement.

The impact sent mail flying into the roadway. The postmaster was called to the scene to retrieve the mail and move the boxes inside the building.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
