Police advising citizens to be aware of scam by two individuals

The Guthrie Police Department and many others are warning Guthrie and Logan County residents of a male and female attempting to scam people.

Police say they have been involved in several scams.

Several social media postings say the two in question attempt the scam by saying they have been at the VA (Veteran Affairs Health Care System) and are trying to get enough money to travel home, but the license plate on their vehicle is from OK.

The male will  then ask for donations in the form of cash or gift cards from Walmart, Loves and other big box stores. When denied or offered a different form of assistance, the male becomes irate and belligerent.

Police say they were seen driving a white Chevrolet Venture van with damage to the body. The male has posed as a veteran from another state. The states have varied.

If you see these individuals, please contact the Guthrie Police Department at 405-282-3535.
