Police cruiser hit with U-haul truck following short pursuit; two females arrested

Valentine’s Day was not as memorable for two females on Wednesday evening after they were arrested following a short pursuit in Guthrie.

A Guthrie police officer was attempting to go into Wal-Mart for some items when he spotted a female running from the store.

That female, Brandy Nicole Seward, reportedly stole items from inside the box store and was being chased by the store’s security team. Police say Seward is well-known to Wal-Mart employees for shoplifting.

Seward got into a 2013 U-haul truck, whom she was borrowing from a friend, and drove off from the parking lot and headed north on Division St. despite an officer attempting to pull her over.

The truck eventually stopped in the Taco Bell parking lot. However, as police cruisers surrounded the U-haul, police officials say Seward put the truck into reverse and rammed into one of the police cruisers.

Brandy Seward is accused of attempting to elude and striking a police cruiser with a Uhaul truck.

With guns drawn, Seward and her passenger, Victoria Lynn Marsh Leonard, were taken into custody with no other incident.

Inside the truck, officers found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.

Marsh, 21, of Edmond, was charged with a misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police tell Guthrie News Page the police cruiser did not suffer any significant damage from the collision.

Seward, 32, of Guthrie, was charged on Thursday with assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny of merchandise from retailer and attempting to elude. Bond was set at $15,000.

Seward has a variety of ongoing charges in Logan County, including drug charges and larceny. Just a year ago, she pleaded guilty to an assault and battery charge. Along with fees and fines, Seward was given 20 hours of community service.
