Public thanks police chief on Damon Devereaux Day

Many citizens came by City Hall on Thursday afternoon to thank Police Chief Damon Devereaux for 23 years of service to the City of Guthrie and public safety.

Damon DevereauxWith a slide show in the background displaying photos from over the years, Devereaux was greeted with hand shakes and stories from years past.

Mayor Mark Spradlin presented Devereaux with a proclamation declaring July 31, 2014 as Damon Devereaux Day in the city of Guthrie.

Throughout his career on the force, including the last 10 years as police chief, he has served eight mayors and numerous city managers and council members.

There will not be to much time to enjoy retirement. He will begin working with Kilpatrck Bank and overlooking their security division on Aug. 1.

City Manager Sereniah Breland expects to announce Devereaux’s replacement in August.
