Rainey Jackson married while activated for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

Most traditional weddings are held on the weekend, or near holidays. Some are held in churches, or perhaps at an outdoor space. For Guthrie native Rainey Jackson-Hamilton her wedding day was a touch different, but perhaps a wedding story many will appreciate.

Spc. Rainey Jackson, 21, married Cpl. Donald Hamilton, 27, on Tuesday night in southeast Texas while wearing camouflage fatigues. Rainey had to make it official by clipping a white veil to her hair.

Both are apart of the Oklahoma National Guard and are assisting in Tropical Storm Harvey recovery efforts. The pair was deployed just weeks after returning from a nine-month tour in the Ukraine.

They had planned a November wedding, but decided to have the wedding at Ford Park Pavilion in Beaumont, Texas in front of a mix of military units from across the country.

The couple took their first steps together to an armored truck decorated with a “Just Married” sign.

Rainey and Don plan to have a celebration with their families soon.
