Registration deadline approaching for local races; candidate forum set

To vote in the upcoming city government elections, voters will need to be registered by early March and in the process the Chamber of Commerce will host a forum for residents to learn more about the candidates running for local seats.

Logan County Election Board officials say to vote in the April 2 municipal election, voters will need to be registered by March 8. Voters can register at the election board located at 224 E. Vials.

The candidate forum will be open to the public on Monday, March 25 at 6 p.m. inside the council chambers at City Hall. Dan Newton will serve as the moderator where questions can be submitted for the candidates.

Trey Ayers, who has represented Ward I for the past six years on the council, will run against Mark Spradlin in the Mayor’s race.

In Ward 1, John Wood will run against Mathis Hathorne and in Ward 3 Gaylord Z Thomas will be opposed by Linda Craddock.

Current Ward 2 councilwoman Patty Hazlewood did not seek re-election and Brian Bothroyd and Jeff Taylor will run for the open seat.
