Search warrants leads to six arrests, 9 children inside the homes

The Guthrie Police Department, with the help of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, served four search warrants on August 14 simultaneously. The raid concluded with six arrests and nine children being removed from the homes.

The police department received information from a confidential informant, earlier in the week, that drugs were being sold at four residences within a two block area on the west side of Guthrie.

Search warrants were granted and served on 1002 W. Logan, 1015 W. Logan, 1215 W. Logan and 1215 W. Washington.

Just before 10 p.m., 14 GPD full-time and reserve officers, 16 Logan County full-time and reserve deputies and one Oklahoma Highway Trooper carried out the search warrants.

Drugs and paraphernalia were seized inside these residences that were home to 9 children. Department of Human Sources was requested and three children were taken into protective custody. Six other children were released to family members.

Richard Brothers, 19,  Heather Brown, 31, Matthew Hadley-Hales, 33,  Rao Laster, 29, were each charged with felonies and given a $7,500 bond. 

Dejuan Pickney, 21, and Erin Taylor-Powell, 19, were charged with misdemeanor crimes. Pickney was given a $2,000 bond and Taylor-Powell a $1,000 bond.

Brothers faces four charges, including possession of marijuana and intent to distribute. Brown was charged with possession of a controlled drug in the presence of a minor under 12 years of age and drug paraphernalia. Hadley-Hales was charged with intent to distribute and maintaining a house where drugs are kept. Laster was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled drug in the presence of a minor under 12 years of age.

Pickney faces possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges while Taylor-Powell faces one count of possession of marijuana.

All six subjects were in front of a judge on Tuesday and are expected to be back in court in October.
