The Oklahoma Farm Bureau (OKFB) is applauding lawmakers who are now a part of their 100 Percent Club for voting in favor of key legislation important to farmers, ranchers and rural Oklahoma during the 2017 session. Sen. AJ Griffin, who is chair of the Senate’s Rural Caucus, is among those being recognized by the organization for her votes by being named to OKFB’s 100 Percent Club.
“Agriculture is a tremendous part our state’s past, but it continues to be a vital part of our economy, our culture and our identity,” said Griffin, R-Guthrie. “The hard-work, dedication, and strong values embraced by Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers help define who we are as a state, and I’m working on behalf of my constituents in District 20 who put food on the tables of families throughout Oklahoma and across the country.”
Legislators were scored on three measures, including Senate Bill 147 which gives municipalities the authority to waive the three-mile setback for concentrated animal feeding operations; Senate Bill 326 prohibits the importation and possession of exotic swine in Oklahoma; and Senate Bill 593, which closes a loophole dealing with the wind industry.
“Oklahoma Farm Bureau is thankful to have excellent representation as we continue to fight for our members at the state Capitol,” said Tom Buchanan, OKFB president. “We applaud these lawmakers for their efforts to protect agriculture and rural Oklahoma.”
