Shaputis, Jones shine at All-State football game

Despite coming up short on the scoreboard with a late score from the East, the duo of DeAndre Jones and Chris Shaputis represented the West and Guthrie Bluejays with great play.

The Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State foottball game took place July 29 at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

Shaputis and Jones both played defense for the West team.

Collinsville’s Andrew Carney connected with Hominy’s Joe Overstreet for a 25-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds remaining, sealing a 34-27 victory for the East.

Jones finished with five tackles, and despite a rare All-State double-team throughout the night, Shaputis collected two tackles.

In February, Jones signed to play college football at Southwestern College of Kansas and Shaputis signed with Southwestern Baptist Missouri. Related article: Watch: Trio of Jays sign letters to play college football
