Sheriff Bauman announces he will run for a third term

Logan County Sheriff Jim Bauman announced he is running for a third term on Thursday morning.

“We’ve made tremendous progress updating and expanding the Sheriff’s Office to make Logan County a safer place to live. We’ve come a long way since I first took office, but I want to continue to expand, enhance and professionalize the services we offer to residents of our county,” Bauman said in a press release.

Anyone wishing to run for the county offices of sheriff, county clerk, court clerk or district two commissioner will have the opportunity to file their paperwork between April 13-15 with the Logan County Election Board. If there are two or more candidates to file for an office, a primary election will be held June 28.

Bauman, who is in his 36th year of law enforcement, says he takes pride in several improvements to the department and jail without added expense to the taxpayers. Aiding in that process, Bauman secured a contract for unused jail beds to the U.S. Marshall’s Service to hold federal prisoners.

The Sheriff says another proud achievement has been the complete payment of the new jail a full year ahead of schedule.

“I’ve spent most of my life helping people live safer lives. Throughout my career, my family has stood by my side.  I hope the citizens of Logan County will also continue to stand with me. We have come a long way, but I have plans for us to work with Logan County residents to enhance our sheriff’s service even further and to make Logan County a better place to live,” Bauman said.
