TimothySlawsonTimothy Slawson was formally arraigned in front of a Logan County judge on Tuesday afternoon on first degree murder and first degree manslaughter charges. His alleged 33-year-old victim was two-months pregnant at the time of the killing late last week.

Slawson, 21, sounded to be yawning at times while on a video conference call with Judge Robert L. Hudson. Slawson spoke only 14 words with 12 of those words being “yeah” and “yes sir”.

The judge notified Slawson that the first degree murder charge could carry a sentence of jail time, jail time without the possibility of parole or punishable by the death penalty if found guilty of the charge. The judge then notified Slawson that the first degree manslaughter charge could carry up to four years. In which, Slawson responded, “four years?”

During an interview with an agent with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, Slawson confessed to shooting and killing Mindy Dawn Carder. The body was found by a nearby resident on Oct. 11.

Carder lived in Oklahoma City, but grew up in Beggs, Oklahoma. Carder’s relatives were located and notified of her death on the same day.

Slawson told the OSBI agent he wants counseling while in jail because he thinks about hurting people and that he wasn’t upset that he killed Carder, but that he was upset because he had been caught and was in jail.

Body FoundAccording to an affidavit, OSBI was notified by a phone call that a female, who says she was working as a prostitute, along with Carder and a male traveled to the suspects home on Oct. 10. Slawson later admitted he went to a website to find prostitutes and that he decided he was going to have sex and kill the prostitute.

The report goes on to say that Slawson knew he could not kill three people with his original idea and went back to his home to retrieve his dad’s 38 Special Pistol and ammunition. Upon returning, he fired off two rounds striking Cader while the other two were able to flee the scene after hearing the shots.

Slawson said he tried giving the victim CPR, but realized it did not work because he did not know how to give CPR. He later had sex with the deceased body before attempting to hide the body where he thought no one could find her.

Slawson is due back in court on Nov. 14. He was ordered to be held without bond.

  1. The home owner should have shot this guy last year when he broke in to his house..

And the desire to shoot people demonstrates your Christian values how? The man is clearly suffering from a mental disorder. If our society actually valued helping people, which it does not, he would have received psychological help years ago. I am certainly not condoning his reprehensible actions, but fighting violence with more violence will never create change. Jesus did advise everyone to turn the other cheek, after all.

  2. Pray for both families. Obviously both people made poor decisions, but now the surviving families have to deal with the consequences.

  3. this is disgusting! I went to school with that kid! I think Im going to throw up!

  4. I hate to say this . . .I really do, but every time I find myself questioning the death penalty, something or someone comes along to make me question why I’m questioning it. That’s a pretty gory story that deserves more than simple jail time because rehabilitation is out of the question. It may not stop someone else from killing, but it’ll darn sure keep him from doing it again. What a shame. The families are the ones that will suffer in this one. I feel so bad for them, but this guy is beyond sympathy or help.

  5. Of course he is sick, no normal person does this. The mental health departments have been eliminated over the past ten years due to budget cuts, so I’m not surprised when a person with mental issues commits horrific acts like this and mass shootings. A child may get an IEP during school but as soon as they graduate you see these things occurring once the help is gone. SAD. He will spend the rest of his life in jail for what he did, and that’s what should happen. BUT speak to a special ed teacher some day,she can point out every child that will commit a horrible crime some day.

  6. My comment was deleted before and maybe again? How and where did he get his gun. It was my understanding that he was a convicted felon. Free speech is just that and i have a right to ask that question as I am a strong supporter of every Americans right to bear firearms but it was reported in this paper that he went “somewhere” to get a gun with more bullets. What kind of person would give such a sic @@#?? person access to a gun. Sorry for asking but it is a legit question.

  7. tim was my good friend. he wasn’t a sick person, he was a damaged person. internally. anyone could tell, but nobody could see such tragedy that was to come. i wish i could’ve been there to be his good friend at the time. maybe if we could’ve been building makeshift skate ramps in our front yards, or pirating a paddle boat on the “open neighborhood pond” or something. anything. it could’ve been a different story for him. im not mad at u dog. life’s full of decisions, good and bad. im just glad they caught u before u could hurt anybody else. i hate to say it like that, but society don’t need anymore violent people out there. i love u man.
