Social media beginning to remove Guthrie teens fighting on video

Parents are shaking their heads in disbelief while the Guthrie Police Department is investigating and searching for teens and adults in what they are calling a fight club.

School Resource Officer Anthony Gibbs says the teens are going to various places throughout town, including city parks and schools, taking out their cell phones and recording fights.

Over the weekend, the group created social media pages, including YouTube, and calling themselves ‘Guthrie Fights.’ After the fights are recorded, they’re uploaded to the platforms. However, YouTube continues to remove the videos and the Facebook page has been removed from the popular website. On Instagram, the private account showed one post and 142 followers.

In the videos, teens can be seen exchanging blows with their fists and in some instances with boxing gloves.

Gibbs says not only those found fighting, but those who attend to watch could be held accountable and arrested. The department says they have recognized some of the individuals in the video and continue to investigate.

If you have information you’re encouraged to call the police department at 282-3535.
