The Guthrie High School softball coaching staff was selected by their peers as the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Summer/Fall Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
Guthrie is led by head coach Booker Blakley and assistant coach Kara Tarrant.
The staff steered the Lady Jays to a Class 5A state runner-up finish, making its first-ever appearance in a state championship game.
Guthrie captured the 5A-1 district title and finished the season with a 27-7 record against the two largest classes in Oklahoma, including posting six wins against state tournament teams.
To be eligible, the program’s head coach must be a member and nominated. Winners were voted by member head coaches in each of their respective regions.
