Superintendent thankful for donations made to each school

Each Guthrie school received some much needed physical education equipment and with the partnership between the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and Logan County Health Department the students received those needs on Thursday afternoon.

Along with equipment, which was presented to each of the school’s physical education teachers, Guthrie High School was presented a banner for being recognized as a Certified Healthy School.

“We are proud of the Logan Health Department and our Chamber Education and Workforce Development team for their work in supporting education,” Chamber CEO Heady Coleman said.

The partnerships worked together to help provide the equipment needed at the six school sites. Each school had a “wish list” that was able to be filled before the schools went on their winter break.

Guthrie Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson says the rally for education is humbling.

“We are so thankful for the community support facilitated by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and the Logan County Health Department. It is humbling to see people willing to answer the call for the needs of our teachers and students,” Dr. Simpson said.
