A Hispanic male has been released from the Guthrie Police Department after being detained in a Monday morning stabbing on Guthrie’s east side.

IMG_5796Lt. Mark Bruning says the individual was released after being questioned about a stabbing involving a reserve Logan County Sheriff’s deputy in the 300 block of E. Mansur.

The victim, who identified the suspect as his attacker at the scene before being transported to a local hospital, was later interviewed and told investigators he was no longer positive that he was the person who attacked him.

The reserve deputy was treated for a knife wound to the arm and later released at the hospital.

Bruning said the clothing description, that the victim gave to 911, did not match the accused suspect. Bruning went on to say the accused male was very cooperative with detectives.

The description of the intruder was a Hispanic male wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans. This person ran north from the area. If anybody has information they are asked to call the Guthrie Police Department 405-282-3535.

Original story

The Guthrie Police Department has one man detained after he allegedly entered into the home  of a Logan County Sheriff reserve deputy and stabbed him.

Both law enforcement departments quickly responded to the area of the 300 block of East Mansur at 8:48 a.m.

Captain Richard Stephens said the reserve officer was stabbed in the arm and was able to fire off a shot at the intruder, but missed the suspect. Stephens said the burglar used a knife from the deputy’s kitchen as a weapon, and attacked the deputy.

Stephens said the deputy will need stitches and is expected to be okay.

The suspect took off on foot, but officers were able to track the suspect just blocks away from the crime scene.

The Guthrie school system locked down all their buildings while officers searched the perimeter. The lockdown was removed shortly before 10 a.m.

Guthrie News Page will have more when it becomes available.
