A man is now incarcerated at the Logan County Detention Center following a reckless pursuit that unfolded on Saturday morning, commencing on S. Division St. and concluding in a neighborhood in south Logan County.

The pursuit was instigated when a Guthrie officer observed a red Chevrolet truck operating without brake lights in the 700 block of S. Division St. Attempting to enforce a traffic stop, the officer signaled for the truck to pull over, but the driver, who was later discovered to have an outstanding local arrest warrant, evaded the officer, initiating a pursuit involving both police and Logan County deputies.

The driver, showing blatant disregard for public safety, accelerated southward, entering the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Exiting the highway hastily, the driver traversed a median and veered onto Seward Road in an eastern direction. Continuing their reckless trajectory, the driver proceeded south on Pine St. before turning east onto Waterloo Road.

Despite the adversity of a blown tire, the driver maintained speeds surpassing 65 mph along Waterloo Road. Their reckless spree came to a halt as they turned into the Whispering Oak Trailer Park, where moments later, a collision occurred, narrowly avoiding a residential property.

Law enforcement swiftly intervened, apprehending the suspect at gunpoint without further incident. Investigations revealed that the vehicle, which sustained significant damage in the crash, had been reported stolen from Clinton.

There were no reported injuries at the scene. Following the apprehension, the suspect was transported to the Guthrie Police Department for booking on multiple charges.

Formal arraignment is expected next week.
