An overnight lightning strike is being blamed for an early morning hay bale fire just west of Guthrie.
The Guthrie Fire Department responded to the scene near the intersection of State Highway 33 and Santa Fe Road around 8 a.m.
Emergency officials believe the bales were struck during overnight storms and smouldered for several hours before being reported.
Logan County Emergency Management and Logan County District 1 crews assisted at the scene.
District 1 workers used a trackhoe to break up and spread out the tightly packed bales, allowing firefighters to fully extinguish the hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
