A package left in front of Guthrie’s City Hall was ruled suspicious causing the entire area to be evacuated and blocked off on Thursday evening. The Edmond Bomb Squad was dispatched and after investigating the package, the all clear was given.

PackageAuthorities became aware of the suspicious package just before 7:30 p.m.

A yellow case was spotted directly across from City Hall on the sidewalk between Oklahoma Ave. and Cleveland Ave.

The all clear was given at around 9:30 p.m. after the bomb squad ruled a chainsaw was inside the case.

Authorities surveyed surveillance video and witness a vehicle park in the same area where the package was left. The vehicle remained parked for several minutes before slowly driving off.

Shortly after the all clear was given, the owner of the chainsaw came back to the location to search for his missing chainsaw. The owner says he left the $600 saw by accident.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.
