Tennis competes at PC North; Junior High wins Suburban Conference

The Guthrie girls junior high team won the Suburban Conference Tennis Tournament in dominating fashion.

The Lady Jays did not lose one single match.

Lola Brown played No. 2 singles and Haven Hudson finished on top in No.1 singles.

Winning in the No. 1 doubles were Lania Woodard and Taylor Shipley, and Kinley Nelson and Ella Huskey in the No. 2 doubles.

“(I’m) so proud of these girls,” Coach Mary Hudson said.

For the boys, the No. 2 boys’ team of Adam Benton and Ryan Mostram also brought home first place.

High School

The Guthrie boys’ varsity team competed in the Putnam City North Tournament.

Lane Goode and Mason Mayer won the tournament playing No. 1 doubles and Gavin Cook and Isaiah Dearman placed third at No. 2 doubles.

“Really proud of Lane and Mason,” Hudson said.

Jaxson Mayer placed seventh at No. 2 singles, Carson Olmsted placed ninth at No. 1 singles, and Alx Varselona placed 10th at No. 1 singles.
