Tickets now on sale for social media sensation to benefit local teachers, students

If you’re on social media there’s a good chance you have come across Heather Land, or the lady know for saying “I Ain’t Doin’ it.” Her tour is making a stop in Guthrie to help benefit Guthrie Public Schools.

The Guthrie Educational Foundation’s fundraiser of bringing Heather Land to Guthrie will be held on Sunday, October 28 at 7 p.m. inside Guthrie’s Scottish Rite Masonic Temple.

From ex-husbands to failed diets, Land’s ability to deliver consistent comedy in a self-deprecating style has made her adored by millions of people of all ages.

From the refinance world to the spotlight, Land says her family and friends always thought she was funny, but really did not think she would ever be paid to be funny.

Land, a comedian, author, singer and songwriter, first posted a video on Snapchat on a dare.

Her first video was well-received, but it wasn’t until her third video “Crossfit Check-In” that her fan page shot up to 45,000 followers in a matter of hours. Overnight, all of her social pages on Instagram and Twitter also grew a massive following. It was like she had used an Instagram growth service and watched her platform explode! Many users can only dream of having their social media page blow up and go viral. She managed to gain all of these followers with her “Crossfit” video. “Crossfit” was a comedic rant calling out braggarts at the gym. It drew 23 million views altogether which is pretty exciting.

The “i ain’t doing it” videos she posts on Snapchat distort her face and voice, giving her a cartoonish look and sound. Most are based on her experiences, but she’s also turning some experiences her fans have shared with her into comedy routines.

Tickets are $29 and are now on sale at evenbrite.com and will profit the Guthrie Educational Foundation, which supplies grants to local teachers for classroom tools and supplies otherwise not budgeted for.
