The Carl Albert Titans have been picked to win Class 5A’s District One title according to the district coaches. The Titans won their 10th state title last December.
The BlueJays, who were narrowly edged out of the top spot, are picked to finish second. The coaches also have picked Ada and El Reno to make the playoffs.
The first two teams in the final district standings will host playoff games and the district champion would host another playoff game with a round one win. The state semi-finals and championship game are played on a neutral field.
While I have not talked to Guthrie head coach Rafe Watkins about this season’s coaches predictions, he has said in the past that the state champion has earned the right to be in the top spot until someone proves it other wise.
Guthrie will have that opportunity on October 15th when they travel to Midwest City for the televised game.
The Jays only district title under Watkins came in 2007 when the Jays went on to an undefeated 14-0 season and capturing their second state championship.

4. El Reno (12-1)
5. Deer Creek (4-6)
