Two businesses sell alcohol to minor in compliance check

Logan County Deputies, along with Prevention Workz out of Enid, conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout Logan County this past Friday. An undercover minor completed an age perception test with the general public which vetted an average age of 17-years-old.

Rainbow Gas in Guthrie and Woodcrest Tavern in southern Logan County sold low point beer to an undercover female minor.

The clerk at Rainbow completed the transaction without giving the undercover change or receipt.

The bartender at Woodcrest Tavern told deputies she knew the undercover looked underage and wasn’t sure how to check the ID but completed the sale anyways.

“It’s very unfortunate the sales were completed,” said Lt. Jordan Crawford. “Our goal is to have zero sales. We try our absolute best to keep alcoholic beverages out of the hands of our minors throughout the county.”

Free training is provided to each establishment who has a violation through Prevention Workz. They are shown the proper way to read ID cards.

“It’s a great opportunity to partner with them to help make Logan County safer,” Crawford said.

Everyone who completed a sale will be charged with selling beer to a minor, which is a misdemeanor charge.
