Two people transported to hospital following accident on Division St.

Two people were taken to the hospital on Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident.

Just after 12:30 p.m., the Guthrie Police Department and Guthrie Fire Department responded to the intersection of Division St. and Prairie Grove Road. Upon their arrival, both southbound lanes were blocked by the vehicles.

Police say a Buick Enclave was attempting to make a left hand turn (eastbound) onto Prairie Grove from Division St. when it was struck from behind by a minivan.

The collision forced the Enclave forward while the mini van jumped the curb and came to a rest off the roadway.

The driver of the minivan, an elderly man who was not wearing a seat belt, failed to yield resulting in the crash. He, along with a male passenger in the Enclave, were transported non-emergency to Mercy Logan County Hospital for further evaluation.

Southbound traffic was diverted into the inside northbound lane while crews cleared the scene.

The roadway was reopened at 1:20 p.m.
