Two-time state champs begin season with 46 shot win

The Guthrie High School boys golf team is off to a good start in defending their two straight state championships with a win in southeast Oklahoma. All six Guthrie golfers finished in the top 10.

The Jays recorded a team-low 305 scorecard in The Durant Punchout held at Chickasaw Pointe in Kingston. The next team to follow Guthrie finished with a score of 351.

The golf course was tough with blustery weather, including rain and wind.

Defending 5A state champion senior Luke Morgan took top honors individually with a 74. Just behind him was Brady Hirzel and his round of 75.

Senior Bo Robbins and Luke Roach each recorded rounds of 78 to finish third overall.

Jaxon Hirzel was plus-10 on the day with a seventh place finish, while Bo Dale was a plus-12 for an eighth place finish.
