Update from County Commissioner Mark Sharpton

Well, it looks like two branches of the Federal Government have come to an agreement to bury you and I deeper into a financial hole. I think it’s very obvious the news and pundits would have you believe in the “team” spirit of winners and losers. I disagree with them. They are just convincing Americans that this is a team sport. It is not. The Constitution is clearly a document protecting individual God-given rights from the team sports mentality.
Mark SharptonI believe this has been a manipulation technique that has been used to divide people for decades. When exploring the political problem being promoted on any particular day, ask yourself, “What is best for me as an individual citizen?” Like health care, for instance. If you truly believe your assets should be taken away from your ability to provide for your family, then why don’t you give individually? I ask, do we need the government to forcefully take assets from one family to give to another?  I believe in helping my brother, but I don’t want my money plundered to help my brother. I guess the system is the one we use until enough of us want it changed.

Speaking about the system,…..the transportation system, that is…. Logan County has been awarded an overlay on Charter Oak Rd. from Broadway to Kelly. Some regional money was left over this year and we moved into the funding. District 1 is constantly trying to find funding for multiple roads. Charter Oak was one we previously completed a lot of the red tape on. Remember, Logan County competes with other counties and cities in a four-county area, so it is always in our best interest to put forth the project that will give Logan County the greatest chance to compete with larger entities.

We are continually studying and putting facts together to have something ready for funding. It seems the requirements are constantly getting more complex due to federal government involvement.
