A Perry man has been charged with domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor.

John Robert Vaughn II (05-10-1979) was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Saturday, April 7th after he avoided law enforcement for a few hours.

On Monday, Vaughn was given a $1,500 after pleading not guilty inside the Logan County Courthouse of willfully and unlawfully committing an assault and battery upon a female. The charge is listed as a misdemeanor.

The crime is punishable by 6 to 12 months and/or a fine up to $5,000.

According to court papers, Vaughn allegedly hit a female in the face with a closed fist three times while in the presence of a minor child.

The alleged incident took place on Sooner Road. According to scanner traffic, the female and child got out of the vehicle at Sooner and Seward roads and later the vehicle was found pulled over to the side of the road and unoccupied near Camp Road.

Guthrie Police and Logan County deputies searched the area for Vaughn, but were unable to locate Vaughn during their initial search.

Vaughn is set to be back in the courtroom on May 10th.
