Vehicle flips three times on S.H. 77; 18-year-old in critical condition

An 18-year-old male and a juvenile were taken to the hospital Friday evening after their vehicle rolled three times north of Guthrie on State Highway 77.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Calvin Sears, 18, of Guthrie was traveling in the northbound lane on S.H. 77 when he lost control of his 2000 GMC Jimmy just after 5 p.m. north of County Road 73.

The vehicle went into a broad slide for 60 feet and then rolled three times before coming to a rest on its top.

The cause of the collision is listed as defective brakes.

Sears was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by Guthrie EMS and admitted in critical condition with back and leg injuries.

The passenger, a juvenile whose name is being withheld, was transported to Mercy Logan County. He was treated and released.
