Water expected to be flowing into pond at Mineral Wells Park

Bookmark and Share

The front pond at Mineral Wells Park may soon be back in business. Crews are working to take the current grassy, stream of water to a full working pond to help enhance the park’s beauty.

Mineral Wells PondCity crews began working on the drain on Monday morning and is expected to take two days to complete. The construction blocked the main entrance of the park.

The current drought has played a factor in the pond losing water over the last few years, but the other culprit has been Snake Creek, that runs aside the park and under south Division. Water from the pond was spilling into the creek.

Once the drain work is completed, a temporary line will be connected to the Cottonwood Creek and will begin to fill the pond back up.

It is uncertain how long it will take to fill the pond, but city officials are hoping the pond will be at full capacity by next week with the water fountain.
