Water Treatment Plant makes it grand opening

Bookmark and Share

After a couple of years construction and just over 10 million dollars, the Guthrie Water Treatment Plant had its grand opening Wednesday morning as a part of the weekly meeting with the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Chuck Burtcher along with City Manager Matt Mueller and Chamber President Mary Coffin spoke to several citizens who turned out for the grand opening. Following the ceremony, citizens were allowed to tour the facility, that has been in operation for several months now.

The Mayor presented proclamations and a plaque to Lauren Hoag, Rachel Ammons and Makaila Carey for their outstanding community spirit. The girls raised $900 in a penny drive to help fund the construction of the new water plant back in 2009.

The Guthrie Police Department headed by Police Chief Damon Devereaux cooked hamburgers for the public to go along with chips and cold drinks.
