Williams, Smith move on to General Election for city council

In an expected low voter turnout on Tuesday with freezing temperatures and icy road conditions on Monday, majority of the voters cast their vote for Tracy Williams and Danny Smith in the Guthrie city council primary election.

The two candidates will now be placed on the April 6 General Election ballot with the winner taking their seat on the Guthrie city council for Ward 3.

Williams gathered the most votes with 64 (56.64%) and was followed by Smith’s 30 votes (26.55%).

Incumbent Sharyl Padgett, who has been appointed to the council twice and won the 2016 election, managed only 10 votes (8.85%).

Franklin Danley finished with five votes (4.42%) and Jesse Morris had four votes (3.54%).

In total, 130 votes were cast, including 90 on election day.
