Wreck on S. Division slows traffic down

Emergency crews were dispatched to a high accident-prone intersection on Monday afternoon for a two-vehicle accident.

A Guthrie police officer says a black Volkswagen Beetle rear-ended a white, GMC Sierra near the intersection of the Mission Hills and Pleasant Hill Apartments entrances.

The accident took place just before 11:30 a.m.

Both vehicles were traveling south when the Sierra attempted to make a turn. An officer says inattentive driving was the cause of the accident and speed may have also contributed to the crash.

Luckily, all three involved in the accident did not report any injuries at the scene, including the passenger in the Beetle. Both front air bags were deployed in the small vehicle.

Traffic was halted for several minutes while crews cleared the roadway and both vehicles towed away.
