Antlers take it to the Jays in third place game

Deer Creek took advantage of an early 9-0 run and from that point kept their distance from Guthrie in the third place game of the 52nd annual McGuinness Classic.

The 12th ranked Antlers trailed 6-4, but suddenly led 13-6 en route to a 59-45 win. The 9th ranked BlueJays fall to 5-4 on the season and have now finished 1-2 in their last five regular season tournaments.

Deer Creek (8-3) opened the game up after halftime by outscoring Guthrie 18-8 in the third period as the Jays used multiple line-ups. At the end of three-quarters the Antlers had a comfortable 20-point lead, 50-30.

Deer Creek finished with eight different scorers and proved to be a balance offense.

Junior guard Jerrick Warren was named to the All-Tournament team by finishing the three-game tournament with 46 points (15.3 average). In the Midwest City tournament over the holiday break, Warren added 42 more points in three games.
