Bryce Balenseifen was named the Guthrie High School cross country’s head coach. The formal announcement came at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.
Balenseifen, who ran at Deer Creek High School, Oklahoma State, and Idaho State, comes to Guthrie by way of Putnam City North, where he spent the last two seasons as the Panther’s head coach.
Balenseifen, 25, brings plenty of experience as a past (2014) All-City Runner of the Year. He won three consecutive state individual championships and four team titles with Deer Creek. Overall, he finished with 22 state championships (eight-team, 14 individuals).
He spent three seasons running at Oklahoma State and one season at Idaho State.
Balenseifen takes the position from Clay Tarter, a Guthrie Hall of Fame member, who suddenly passed in June.
