Ballard-Stevenson earns multiple medals at track state meet

The Guthrie High School track teams competed at the 5A State track meet over the weekend in Ardmore. The Jays were led by senior Kaiden Ballard Stevenson.

Ballard Stevenson medaled in both of his individual events by taking third in the high jump and second in the long jump.

He cleared 06-02.00 in the high jump. State champion Andrew Hughes, of Ada, jumped 6-08.00

In the long jump, Ballard Stevenson cleared 22-00.50, while Rick Smith, of Ardmore, took a leap of 22-05.00.

Stevenson, along with Mason Tilley, Isaiah Hammons and Jaylen Chelf, finished fourth in the 4×100 meter relay.

Senior Mason Bareny finished fifth in the 3200 meter run.

Overall, the Lady Jays finished 18th overall, while the Jays took 10th.
