Bookmark and Share

Banner School served many Guthrie school children for several years, but the old school building went up in flames and destroyed in a matter of minutes.

BannerFire crews responded to the now privately owned building, located at 1124 W. Warner, just before 4 a.m. Upon arriving, the fire was seen in the northwest corner of the building.

Along with the Guthrie Fire Department, Edmond, Woodcrest, Crescent and Oak Cliff fire stations, surrounded the 79-year-old building with fire engines pouring water on the inferno.

Firefighters remain at the scene and are putting out hot spots as of 10 a.m.

The building is a total loss.

It is unknown what cause the fire. The State Fire Marshall Office is investigated to determine the cause.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.
