Baseball begins with home scrimmage

On Tuesday afternoon vehicle dash boards were reading 77 degree’s, there was no Oklahoma wind, and snow was still on the ground in some area’s. This can only mean one thing – baseball season.
 
The Guthrie baseball squad participated in their first and only home scrimmage of the season when they hosted Del City on a near perfect February afternoon at Squires Field. View Photo Gallery
 
The Jays will participate in three more scrimmages before kicking off the 2011 season. The next two scrimmages will be Thursday and Friday when they participate in the Edmond Santa Fe scrimmage with numerous teams around the metro area. The final scrimmage will be next Thursday, February 24th, when they travel to Midwest City.
 
Guthrie will open the season with two home games with Ponca City (March 1st) and Carl Albert (March 3rd). The season schedule has 23 regular season games and three tournaments: Ardmore, Choctaw, and Deer Creek. For the complete schedule visit the Baseball page on Guthrie Sports Page.
