Guthrie Wrestling travels to Harrah this Friday and Saturday to compete in 5A’s West Regional along with wrestling powers Harrah, El Reno, Altus, and Duncan to name a few. Guthrie has a great opportunity to qualify up to nine kids for next week’s State Tournament, which would be the most kids in recent years.
The Bluejays will be led by Bryan Dutton (29-1) and Landry Chappell (13-2). Both Dutton and Chappell placed third at the State Tournament a season ago with 3-1 records, and will go into the West Regional as the top seeds in their respective weight class.
The most recent OK Wrestle projected seeds for the West regional include: Dennis Murphy as a No. 3 seed, Timothy O’Connor, Austin O’Connor, Michael Connor and John Davidson as No. 4 seeds, and Ryan Kitch and Devin Bilyeu as No. 5 seeds.
The top four seeds at each weight from the East and West regions qualify for the State Tournament. State will take place on Friday (25th) and Saturday (26th) inside the State Fair Arena.
