The Guthrie Bluejays are set to make their mark at the Class 5A Dual State Wrestling Tournament this Saturday at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center in Tulsa.
Guthrie (9-5) will take on McAlester (6-2) in the opening round at 10 a.m., with a shot at advancing to the semifinals.
The Bluejays earned their spot at Dual State by securing a district championship, joining Chickasha, Coweta, Claremore, McAlester, El Reno, Elgin, and Lawton MacArthur as the top teams in the field.
No. 1 seed Chickasha (9-0) faces Lawton MacArthur (6-2) on Guthrie’s side of the bracket, with the winners set to clash in the next round.
Guthrie will need a strong performance to advance past a tough field, with powerhouse programs like Elgin and Coweta, who have met in the last two championship duals, also in the mix. The semifinals will take place at 2 p.m., followed by the championship at 6:30 p.m.
All matches will be streamed on the NFHS Network, with Guthrie’s own Shawn Silvis on the call for the championship match.
