The Chamber of Commerce has reserved a huge American Flag for the 89er Celebration this year. We are looking for people interested in helping carry the flag through the parade. If you are interested please call the chamber at 282-1947.

We have lots of activities this week. The carnival will be in operation Wednesday through Thursday from 4p.m. to 11p.m. on Friday and Saturday from 2p.m. to midnight. Armbands are $20 this year. Single tickets are $1. The parade will begin at noon on Saturday from the Scottish Rite Temple.

The Bluebonnet Jamboree, an evening with Ben Stafford Rodgers, American’s Singing Cowboy. Ben will be appearing in Guthrie Oklahoma, live on Saturday, April 21 at the R&R Restaurant and Event Center, at 409 W. Oklahoma. Ben will be performing songs from his latest album, including his No. 1 European single, “When It’s Springtime In Alaska”.    Tickets are available at the door for $7.00 or two for $10.  Showtimes are at 5 and 7:45.  For more information call the chamber at 282-1947.

The sixth annual Festival of Licorice will be held from April 18 -April 22 at Aunt Gertrude’s House celebrating National Licorice Week.  Licorice from around the world plus licorice ice cream and other licorice treats will be available. Tastes are free. Call 260-2345 for more information.

The old Fashioned 1889 Baseball game will be held Thursday at 6:30p.m.on Squires Field, located at 200 block of East Springer. Contact the Oklahoma Sports Museum if you would like to play!

Friday and Saturday the 89er Day Rodeo will begin at 7:30p.m. at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Billy & Sherrie Longnecker will be hosting the event, featuring:  Bareback & Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Pony Express, Barrel Racing, Calf Roping, Bull Riding and Mutton Bustin’. For more information call 570-2555.  There will be a celebration concert Saturday night also!!!

There’s more entertainment Saturday night!! The Byron Berline Band will be at the Double Stop Fiddle Shop starting at 7:30p.m. – Plus the Pollard Theatre is performing the musical “Legally Blonde” at 8p.m. Any of the above events can be accessed on our online calendar of events at www.guthrieok.com.
