Happy New Year! Byron Berline’s Double Stop Music Hall will be kicking off the New Year with a great concert featuring the greatest Bluegrass Music you have ever heard! This Saturday, January 5th at 7:30p.m. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased by contacting The Double Stop Fiddle Shop at the number above 405-282-6646, located at 121 E. Oklahoma Guthrie, Ok. Before the show stop by one of our great restaurants for dinner.

School classes resume next Monday, January 7th. Are you familiar with our civic clubs? The beginning of the year is a great time to think about checking them out! Rotary Club International meets every Monday at the Granny Had One Event Center from noon to one. Lions Club meets every Friday at the American Legion Building at noon, with a catered lunch. Kiwanis Club meets every other Tuesday at Pizza Hut at 6:30p.m. The Guthrie Business Women meet the second Thursday of the month at 6:30p.m. in different restaurants. For more information call Amy Carothers, 282-0661. These clubs have different visions and missions which all contribute to our community. Feel free to drop by any of these meetings to see if you would be interested in joining.

The second Tuesday of every month the Chamber holds an Educational Series at noon, this month we will have information about Time Management taught by Meridian Technology.  RSVP for the free lunch by calling the chamber at 292-1947.

Territorial Squares Square Dance Club’s is having their 24th Anniversary Dance from 8p.m.  to 10p.m.  At the Cabin, 601 N. Pine.

Lies My Father Told Me, is the fourth and final event in the Library’s self defense series, taught by Master Dutch Hinkle Learn about five basic commonly held myths of self-defense. These myths are presented with viable alternatives when experiencing confrontations with others. This knowledge will empower you! For more information contact the Guthrie Public Library at 282-0050.

Ever been interested in Japanese? Now is your chance to learn!  The Guthrie Public Library is offering an 8-week course meeting each Saturday, beginning Saturday, January 12th the class runs through March 2nd.  Join us for Japanese language classes each Saturday morning at 9:30 am. This beginner-level class will focus on both conversational and written Japanese. Classes are taught by Dutch Hinkle, who lived in Japan and has studied Asian culture and language for over 50 years.

This week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Get Fit Logan County at 215 Fairgrounds Road at 9:30a.m. Bring your business cards, everyone is welcome to attend. Have a great week!
