Have you ever watched Frank and Mike on American Pickers? I love their show and was excited to take a call from their network. They would like to come to Guthrie, but only if we have some interesting characters and certain items they are looking for. Motor scooters i.e. Vespas, Lambretta, Cushman, old advertising signage, bicycles, unusual radios, old toys that are tin, wind-up and cast iron, old movie posters, taxidermy, vintage bb guns, election memorabilia, musical instruments, vintage gas pumps, strange woodcarvings and much much more. Give us a call at the office and we will email you a list or stop by for a copy.

We have scheduled a beginner computer class for June 6th from nine to noon in the chamber boardroom. We would like to have eight people for the class in order to keep the price down. The class will teach you desktop features and how to identify icons and buttons, customize the desktop, launch Microsoft office applications, explore elements of a program window, navigate a program using mouse and keyboard, creating word documents, cut, copy and pasting. Please call us at 282-1947 to reserve your spot!

Ribbon Cuttings are one of the things that we do here in the Chamber office. We have one right around the corner, May 28th, 9:30a.m. at Backyard Pools & Gifts located at 802 S. Division, the first building just South of Sonic. Our other two are scheduled June 12 at Proud Dental and June 19th at Warren Monument 1606 S. Division. Visit our web calendar at www.Guthrieok.com for more community information.

May 29th Chamber Coffee will be hosted by the Guthrie Public Library, 201 N. Division, join us at 9:30a.m. Bring your business cards for the giveaways!

Saturday, June 1st from 8a.m. to noon is the first day of the Guthrie’s Farmer’s Market! In conjunction with the Farmer’s Market there will be an Antique and Vintage Market from 8a.m. to 3p.m. on First Street, between Oklahoma and Harrison Avenue. That same evening God’s Food Bank is having a Hamburger and Homemade Ice Cream Social from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall the 1st of June.

Everyone is feeling the need to help in this awful tragedy.  There are many ways that you can make a difference! Guthrie Business Women President, Cassandra Davis, has announced that they will be creating “Treasure Boxes” for children who have lost everything in the devastation in Oklahoma over the past few days.  These boxes will contain items to decorate the box, along with some special treasures such as a cool rock, a beautiful leaf, a pressed flower, a small toy, silly putty, etc.  They will then be put in a bag along with a few essentials, a game, a coloring book, colors, or an activity book to be given to the displaced children.  If you would like to help with this effort, bring your donation to Cassandra at Logan County Abstract- 200 Sigma Pl. Guthrie, or call 405 282-4012 for information. Guthrie Christian Church, 1802 W. Logan has partnered with Draper Park Christian Church, 8500 South Walker Ave, OKC. To bring much needed supplies to the tornado victims in Oklahoma County. A semi truck will be in the parking lot of Guthrie Christian Church, Thursday from 9a.m. to 7p.m. They would like to fill it with the following items ONLY and deliver them Friday Morning! Water, Sports Drinks, Work gloves, large trash bags and diapers (all sizes). The Guthrie Public Schools, students and teachers have made some tremendous contributions to the tornado victims by filling three busses full of items for the Moore area and one bus for the Carney area! I am thankful to live in such a giving community! Have a great week!
