Join us at the Guthrie Public Library, January 22nd from 6:30p.m. To 7:30pm. for this fun and informative meet and greet with Teresa, Trista, and Tammy- authors of the exciting new fantasy novel Caladiona: The Making of Dragons. The authors will be available to discuss their work, answer questions and sign books. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet these talented local authors! Refreshments will be provided.

COCAA has partnered with the IRS again this year to offer Free tax preparation! Adjusted Gross Income limit is $51,000. The filing period is from January 23rd to April 10th at the COCAAA Family Support Office located at 219 S. Broad Street (across street West from Sheriff’s office). Only on Wednesdays from 8:30a.m. to 3:30p.m., Appointments are requested and will have priority over walk-ins: 282-4332.

Hello! Ever been interested in Japanese? Now is your chance to take language classes! Join the Guthrie Public Library each Saturday morning at 9:30 am.  This beginner-level class will focus on both conversational and written Japanese. This is an 8-week course meeting each Saturday running through March 2nd. Classes are taught by Dutch Hinkle, who lived in Japan and has studied Asian culture and language for over 50 years. Classes begin this Saturday, January 12th.

The Logan County N.A.A.C.P. has scheduled two events to mark the celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, The Community Worship service Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. This service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1314 East Vilas Street. The keynote speaker is Dr. Vernon Jones. Dr. Jones is Administrator of the Cooperative Extension Program, and Associate Dean, School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Langston University. He also serves as Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  The Annual Dr. MLK Parade will be held Monday, January 21, 2013. The Grand Parade Marshal is Dr. Kent Smith, President of Langston University. The Parade will start at 10:00 A.M. at the intersection of Oklahoma and Capital Street and conclude just west of City Hall.  A come and go reception will be held at the Fairgrounds Building following the parade.
