Chamber Chat: Territorial Christmas has been a hit

We had a great weekend in Guthrie with the Historic Homes Tour, Candlelight Trolley Tours and the Victorian Walk! The nativity scene down at the Apothecary Garden counted over 1000.00 visitors! The Christmas Committee set up a screen and played an outdoor movie in the empty lot across from Harrison’s Chicken House!  The Ok Choral Sweet Adeline Chorus was amazing and so was the Governor’s own 145th Army Band. The Jr. High Band was really terrific, they moved all over the downtown area and really added to the whole Victorian experience. Dance With Me had a huge crowd surrounding them on First Street during their dance routine while peanut venders sold bags of roasted peanuts to wandering visitors.

One of my favorites was the carolers on horseback traveling throughout the streets.  Of course there is plenty of entertainment after 8 p.m. The Pollard Theatre presents “ A Territorial Christmas Carol” and Byron Berline Band has a show at the Double Stop Music Hall and the First Capital Trolley has candlelight tours at 6p.m., 7p.m. and 8p.m. This Saturday will be just as exciting, grab the family and join us from 5p.m. to 8p.m.  for the Victorian Walk.

The Historic Homes Tour kept us busy Saturday morning along with all of the phone inquiries about the walk.  Three hundred and sixty tickets were sold to the Homes Tour! The Christmas Committee dined the homes tour folks  Friday evening then took everyone for a Trolley ride to enjoy each other’s home. A special thanks to our wonderful Trolley driver, James Bond!

TravelOk has featured the Territorial Christmas again last week in their monthly newsletter which reaches over 60,000 subscribers! I have been talking to a writer in the Dallas area for several weeks, giving her information about our events. She said we will be in the Dallas Morning News on Sunday, Dec. 9th and was posted online last Friday, Dec. 7th!

Our Educational Series is Tuesday at noon: Courtney Thompson, CX Nutrition and Fitness Coordinator for Logan County will present information on how you can help your worksites get healthy or stay healthy in simple steps. This weeks Chamber Coffee is hosted by Carol Ann’s Boutique located at 122 W. Oklahoma, everyone is welcome we begin at 9:30a.m. Merry Christmas! See you next week!
